Authority Believes Trapped NZ Miners All Dead

After a second explosion happened in NZ mine, an official believed that all of the 29 trapped miners already perished.

Superintendent Gary Knowles have told miners’ families that none of the guys may survive on the second blow up occurred Wednesday afternoon.

He said that another massive mine blasting has rocked the underground mine, and the explosion was a horrible one, and based on that kind of explosion, no one can survived.

The superintendent broke the news to the miner’s families that made every member distraught upon hearing the bad news.

Knowles said that it was their belief that no one has survived the explosion and the men already perished and added that it was the most horrific thing he has ever encounter as a policeman.

According to him, breaking a sad news to the family make them extremely out of their mind and distressed.

Authorities said that the two military robots sent underground only found a worker’s helmet, without any sign of life at all. Based on investigation, the helmet was dropped by one of the two miners who managed to escape the first explosion.

Peter Whittall, CEO of Pike River Coal, said that one of the robots had broken down on early Tuesday, however, they manage to back it online. Moreover, he said that the third robot was on its way approaching the site.

One of the devices used for search and rescue effort reached a fresh air and found no one in the area.

Authorities believed that all 29 missing men were all spread throughout the mining area, and think of a possibility that half of those men was trapped in one of the mine’s area.

  1. Our thoughts go out to the families of the miners killed in the Pike River Mine accident in New Zealand. Mining is a dangerous activity and this recent event highlights this.
